Julia turns 3, winter, New Years and saying goodbye to 2013

December: a very busy month to close out 2013. The early part of the month revolved around celebrating Chanukah and Julia's 3rd Birthday. Jules had a gymnastic party with her friends and family -- she really enjoyed showing off her gym skills and playing with her friends. We also had smaller b-day celebrations at her school, and with family and friends. The kids were very excited for their winter break- we all enjoyed spending time at home with friends and family and just relaxing a bit. We were also very excited to welcome a new member into the extended family - Aiden Matthew was born right before X-mas. The kids loved meeting Baby Aiden at the hospital and it was a great time spending so much time with our cousins over the week. For New Years, we had a great early New Years party with a bunch of our neighbors at the Schuttes. Then on New Years Eve, we had a great time celebrating with our friends and neighbors, the Schembris. As we close out 2013, we look forward to a great 2014! Last month's post

Movember, Marathon, Thanksgiving and more

November began with a fun trip into New York City to see Uncle David to run in the Marathon. First we headed into Brooklyn on the LIRR - and started walking over to Meg and D's. While on the way, we were lucky enough to see the women leaders run through Park Slope - we walked over to the apartment and hung with the Beckermans and Nonny & Poppy. We then headed down and watched the runners, saw our friend Annie running, and then saw Uncle David who stopped by to say hi. We then headed into Manhattan and got to see Uncle David again running through midtown and then we walked over to Central Park where we got to see him (and Annie_ one more time as they approached the finish line. It was a great time and we all had fun celebrating with burgers for dinner. Later in the month, we got to celebrate Thanksgiving and Chanukah -- lots of great time with friends and family. You'll also notice that Mike was growing a mustache for Movember -- none of us loved the way it looked, but it was for a good cause. Last Month's Post

Spook-tober

As some of you know, Jake and Jules love Halloween - the spookiness especially. Much of the month revolved around Halloween activities. Pumpkin picking, Halloween Happening at Commack High School, a visit to the Halloween decorations at Hank's, and of course the Halloween parade and Trick of Treating. Fall into fall

After a whirlwind summer, September came in fast with both kids starting their new schools. Jake began kindergarten at Indian Hollow and Julia started pre-pre-pre K in the 2's program at Temple Beth David. Highlights of the month included going fishing at Captree with Pop Pop; our annual trip to Seven Orchards out east for apple picking; celebrating Benjamin's 1st Bday and more. Next Month's Blog

Chicago and Michigan vacation

On Jake's actual birthday, we flew out to Chicago for Scott & Casey's wedding, and a family vacation with the Gutwaks/Romanoff/Block clan in Chicago and Michigan. It was a great time with all the kids having such a good time together. We rented a house together in southern MI (union pier) and spent a lot of time at New Buffalo and also a great day in Saint Joseph (the Riviera of the Midwest).
